Fresh, delicious cuisine born in the trattorias of Italy will now be found down the cobblestone streets of Charleston. ‘Cesca, Charleston’s new southern regional Italian restaurant will open its doors on June 14th off of East Bay Street at 5 Faber Street.
Owned and operated by seasoned restaurateur Anthony Mazzola, ‘Cesca’s relaxed, rustic ambience paired with its interpretive southern Italian cuisine will bring a new fare to the evolving Charleston restaurant scene.
“Opening ‘Cesca in Charleston seemed like a natural fit,” said Mazzola. “The food culture here concentrates on sourcing fresh, local ingredients, which mirrors the way you cook and eat in Italy."
‘Cesca, named after Mazzola’s grandmother Francesca, will focus on very fine, though unrelentingly authentic dining borne of its founders’ Italian heritage and the pedigreed experience of Executive Chef Jason Colon, who was previously with Miel at the Intercontinental Hotel and Market by Jean Georges.
Menu specialties include ‘Cesca’s spicy parmigiano and prosciutto fritters, day boat scallops with wild mushrooms, pancetta, Sicilian oregano butter, in addition to the restaurant’s traditional Sunday Sauce.
“We’re excited to showcase the South’s fresh, local approach to cooking at ‘Cesca,” said Colon. “The menu will highlight a melding of Lowcounty ingredients in traditional Italian dishes, true to authentic southern Italian cooking.”
‘Cesca will feature an extensive wine list with heavy focus on Italian wines from every major wine producing area of Italy, as well as a full premium bar.
The restaurant also features two private spaces for corporate or social events.
‘Cesca will be open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week. Reservations can be made via OpenTable, or by calling (843) 718-2580.
